Inspection

The packaging has been designed to protect the luminaire from damage during transit. Inspect

luminaire for damage before installation.

Mounting (Rough-In Section)

Attach housing to brackets using provided wing nuts (figure a).

Bar hanger brackets are designed to accept 1/2” trade size EMT (not included) for mounting to the

ceiling structure. Bar hangers that pass through hanger brackets allow for attachment to the ceiling

structure.

Insert provided bar hangers into bar hanger brackets of housing (DCA 6 only).

Level the housing so that the bottom of the plaster ring is flush with the finished ceiling material.

Nail two brackets to the available ceiling structure. For attachment to T-Bar type acoustical ceilings

the hanger brackets can be attached to Caddy Fasteners #ATS4l (not included).

Route power supply leads into J-box:

o CONNECT WHITE (common) supply wire to white fixture lead.

o CONNECT BLACK (hot) supply wire to black fixture lead.

o CONNECT GREEN (ground) supply wire to green fixture lead.

Dimming:

o CONNECT PURPLE (positive) dimmer wire to purple fixture wire.

o CONNECT YELLOW (+10VDC) to purple wire for standard 0-10v dimmers.

o CONNECT GRAY (negative) dimmer wire to gray fixture wire wire.

Note: Insulation must be at least 3” from the housing on all sides. Suitable for wood ceilings.

Note: Minimum ceiling opening is 6” for the DCA6 version and 8” for the DCA8 version (figure b).

Maximum recommended ceiling thickness is 1-1/8”.

Wiring

Note: Make sure that all electrical connections are in accordance with the National Electrical Code

and any applicable local code requirements.

Note: Check the input voltage for the luminaire on the product label. Verify that the luminaire is

rated for the input voltage.

When making electrical connections make sure that the wire marked “Ground” is connected to the

ground wire on the supply side. Under no circumstances should the ground wire be connected to a

supply or power wire. This will cause the luminaire to fail and will not be covered under warranty.

Terminal connections are accessible through terminal box on luminaire (figure c).

Service leads should extend into terminal box on luminaire.

Close lid on terminal box.

Trim

Depending on environmental conditions, it may be necessary to clean the lens in order to maintain a

high-efficiency lens. (Use solvent-free cleaners.)

Insert trim into housing (figure d).

Storage

Prior to installation, the luminaire should be placed in covered, dry storage. The storage location

should not exceed the normal operating temperature of the luminaire.
